Pamela,
I'm having all sorts of trouble with the SRE punch needle........well the fabric, particularly!
I've tried ducchesse satin...too closely woven and big holes result;homespun/calico too soft a fabric. What do you suggest,as I want to incorporate it into CQ.
Also would an iron on backing help at all? |

The Dancing Ribbon Needle or Silk ribbon needle is a large needle which uses 7mm - 13mm silk ribbon. Due to its thickness, fabric is certainly a consideration. An iron - on woven interfacing will help to strengthen some fabrics such as Duchess Satin. The fabric which I use for the very best result is a polyester/viscose/linen blend.
It is the technique more so than the fabric. With this punchneedle there is no punching motion. Insert the needle tip into the fabric and then 'twizzle' or twist the needle gently through the fabric and then push to the full length of the needle.
The fabric needs to be very tight in the hoop as well.
For CQ it might be necessary to work on a firmer fabric and then applique the finished design. |

Now one question remains;are you coming to Brisbane for the Stitches/Craft show the end of April,or do i need to order that poly/viscose/linen fabric online???
