.....crease marks should come out easily by dabbing a cotton-bud with white vinegar on the crease-lines. |

After dabbing with white vinegar I would suggest gentle washing - vinegar is an acid after all. |

I love your website and I really enjoy my 'dancing needle' when I have the time to make it dance. If you dab around the crease mark with a cotton bud soaked in WHITE vinegar, you will need to very carefully iron with a steam iron around the crease to fully remove it. Works every time! |

Spanish:

Here is a translation of Rosa's helpful Spanish information: "When the hoop leaves marks on the fabric, use your steam iron to apply steam to the wrong side where the marks are, without touching the threads. Steam for several minutes, gently stretching the fabric. Then allow it to dry. When the embroidery dries the marks will disappear." |

The hoop can also squash and damage your work, if your piece is too large to fit all at once in the hoop. This is especially a problem if combining punchneedle with delicate ribbon embroidery. So for large pieces I don't use a hoop at all. Instead I use a wooden scroll-frame as used for tapestry and cross stitch (a friend made me one which will take a 40cm square fabric). Onto the 4 bars of the frame I glued a strip of hook-and-loop tape (Velcro tape), using the stiff "hook" tape. Then onto the wrong side of all 4 edges of the fabric, I sew a strip of the soft fuzzy "loop" tape. I press the fabric tapes and frame tapes together, stretching the fabric as tightly as I can. Then it can be tightened further by turning the scrolling bar of the frame. When the embroidery is complete, I cut off the edges of the fabric with the loop tape, so this wastage has to be allowed for in the amount of fabric needed.. The loop tape can be used again on your next project. |

Two points to remember:
1.. Do NOT leave your work in hoop for long periods of time.
2..When ironing.......use a folded towel underneath--with the worked side against the towelling;it helps protect your work from being flattened too much |
