Pamela I have had some queries regarding RSI (repetitive strain injury) from using punchneedles. I use my punchneedles almost every day and sometimes for hours at a time. In early days I had twinges of pain in my wrist, elbow, shoulder and neck. I have made a conscious decision to only ever work with my punchneedles whilst sitting correctly at a table where I have adequate support. I hold onto my hoop and rest it on the table with my left hand and I sit forward far enough so that the whole of my right forearm is resting on the table. I have to discipline myself to get up and move as I know it is easy for me to go off into punchneedle heaven and stay in the same position for long periods. When I do get up, I clasp my hands behind my back and gently lift my arms as high as I can to stretch out all of the tense muscles. Please be aware of your posture when dancing with your needles.

Enjoy the dance! Pamela

Rhoda Tsalidis I had the pleasure of meeting Pamela in 2002. Since then I have been happily dance needling. It is very true that posture is very important. Pamela told the ladies in the demonstration class whilst in Wollongong. I have continued to use good posture and do take regular breaks. I have had carpal tunnel operations on both my hands (mostly due to fluid retention during my pregnancies) and all is well.

So take the advice. It is sound.

Catherine Hughes Dear Readers,
I suffered RSI for over 15 years but now am cured. And I did it with the help of a book called 'Pain Free at Your PC' by Pete Egoscue. Before this I had tried every treatment available both in NZ and Australia and none of them made any difference what so ever.
It took only 3 weeks of following the recommendations in the book before the pain was quite dramatically reduced. Then another 3 weeks and I was completely Pain Free. I recommend to anyone who has suffered with this condition to try Pete's book. I found it at my local library so it didn't even cost a cent!
Oh! by the way my RSI was triggered by knitting and or typing. So, it doesn't matter what one believes causes it, give it a go.

Yours Pain Free

Catherine P Hughes
